Attended Velvet Horn Drag cabaret hosted by the stunning Ula Lah and it is the only reason for the 5 stars. A top tier drag night for FREE of this calibre is hard to find. The show was such a fun camp time and really helped bring the Vibe of the previous John the Unicorn. Fab acts Shar Cooterie & Yshee Black with something for everyone to love. Cannot wait for the next one ! Sadly the venue has suffered under new ownership. The place lacks soul and the music is terrible. I wish the owners did their research and kept the fun, cheesy camp vibe that made everyone come to the venue in the first place. Thankfully the small but mighty bar staff seem to be the same and despite wait times for drink often a little long at peak times, they still do such a fab job. Definitely be back for the next Velvet Horn and recommend others to do the same.

Came to see the ‘Velvet Horn” Cabaret night with a large group. Everyone had THE best time. Ula Lah is just the most brilliant performer and puts together one of the best nights of drag in London. Three performers, three sets. So skilled, so funny, so warm to the audience. This evening it was Ula, Shar and Yshee ~ we laughed and laughed. The unique thing is there is no stage and they perform in front of a window. Peckham becomes the backdrop to the acts. Amazing, spontaneous comedy. Pure joy. The pizza is excellent. Drinks are great. We were a really happy group. Respect to the bar staff working tirelessly throughout the night and remaining good humoured throughout. Massive thanks to Ula for putting together an amazing evening.

First time back since the change in management...it has lost its sparkle. Saturdays used to be a great dance floor, fun tunes, a great place to end the night...today there were far less people in general and no one dancing; the vibe felt very flat and there was no dance floor per se. While the new drinks menu was great, the whole feeling has shifted, the lights were too bright and the music was totally different. I wouldn't rush back anymore - such a shame as I used to love this place. Hope the new management can take this on board, John the Unicorn is an institution but feels like it could be just any old bar now.
