It’s with regret that I have to write this review because I truly believe the owner is a nice person, but the service I received on 20th November has left my hair damaged and me extremely upset. I went in for a wash, treatment, blow dry and trim. What happened instead was one of the worst salon experiences I’ve ever had. My hair was not sectioned at any point. It was not detangled with conditioner before washing, which is basic practice for natural hair. It seems this type of service isn't really done by the other stylists. The system only allowed me to book Ola. After my consultation with her I was passed over to the woman who washes hair. I have extremely thick coarse hair and during the wash my hair was not sectioned and not detangled with conditioner first. It was shampooed straight away several times, then the treatment was put in and only then did she start trying to detangle at which point my hair became matted. The treatment doesn't have slip to be able to detangle effectively. She was using a detangling brush and brushing from the roots at the front on soaking wet knotted hair instead of starting at the ends and working up. I could literally feel my hair ripping and I saw in the corner of my eye her taking lots of hair out of the brush. I am not a professional and even I know hair is most fragile when wet. Because of this I now have sections at the front that have snapped off to around two inches. My hair is 10-12" long. This is a huge amount of avoidable damage caused by poor technique and a lack of knowledge on how to care for natural hair. I had to stop her and tell her to put the brush down and use a wide tooth comb. I even ended up helping to detangle my own hair to stop the damage from getting worse. Parts had to be picked apart strand by strand because the matting was so bad. She then moved to another client and told me my hair was detangled which it wasn’t. She put me under the dryer with the treatment. After that I was passed back to Ola for the wash but there were still a lot of knots left. By this point my scalp was extremely sore. Ola was using a detangling brush as well and I could feel my hair ripping again. In the end I just got up and said I would deal with it myself at home. I left without the wash, blow dry or trim because I no longer felt comfortable allowing anyone there to continue working on my hair. They didn't charge me the balance but kept my £25 deposit for the treatment. I wasn't going to post a review, as I really like the owner - but I feel a sense of responsibility to warn other women with natural hair, so they don't go through this. I hope the salon takes this seriously and invests in proper training because what happened to my hair was completely avoidable.
Niclette transformed my wig with a trim and style. I will use them again. The staff are very polite and welcoming. Thank you!
