Poached Bromley (East Street Coffee)

Best coffee in Bromley. A gem.

A local to this branch, had been three times before as not many places do protein shakes near by. This one was 2.5/5 in terms of taste but done the job and was supporting a local business, unfortunately the service is quite rude. I had purchased a “too good to go bag” - unlike other places with this service they left a very small window for collection and so I rushed out in the rain to collect my order, only to get a notification 3 minutes before collection that it’s been cancelled. When I went in to enquire, the staff came in from behind me not acknowledging that I was waiting to be seen to (as the person behind the till had “just come back from lunch break” even though there was only 15 minutes for the place to close). The more senior member of staff yelled out “miserable weather out there” and proceeded to serve another customer (that arrived after me) I politely stated my order got cancelled and attempted to make some small talk as I’ve spoken to the same staff before so should be a familiar face, they continued to serve the other customer and said “yeah nothing to give” as though that was a full stop to the question. I also can see there were countless items not sold at the front (and a bag behind that seemed prepared for maybe themselves if I was to speculate). I asked if “it’s good practice to cancel 3 minutes before a pick up” and that “you said yourself the weather is horrible so I would rather have not made my way if I had any earlier notification” to which he said “is what it is” I won’t be coming back to this place and I understand the too good to go is its own additional service but the lack of empathy and understanding was absolute trash customer service for an already mid tier tiny establishment. The individual who served was called “Matt” - perhaps read some online courses to upscale you service given you are in a customer serving industry. The only reason I’d give the food a 3 star is because I’m an honest person and this location doesn’t actually bake anything themselves they have it delivered from there parent company so they don’t deserve to be taken down based on 1 individuals lack of humility.
