The pub will charge you double for a non-alcohol drink on days where they're showing the football. I came on a Sunday 5pm for a world cup qualifier match (into a fairly empty pub) and asked for a lime soda. The bartender asked if I was there for the match and I said yes, and she said "we don't do lime soda if you're watching the football. You have to get a real drink or a soft from the fridge and we charge you double." I said I was antibiotics and couldn't drink for reasons out of my control. I asked how much a J2O was and she says "£2.40 but £4.80 at double charge". George Canning management: You cannot and should not morally or ethically penalise or punish people who do not drink. This decision could be for health reasons, because someone is the designated driver, or because of an allergy, being pregnant or alcohol abuse issue amongst many other things. It is outrageous to force people to pay more simply because the football is on. If you're arriving in a group who is drinking, alcohol or not, you are a patron on the pub. You are entitled to be there by paying for a drink, whatever that may be, and being upcharged is out of order, particularly if the reason you're not drinking alcohol may well be out of your control. You must revoke this rule.
They were charging double for soft drinks because “the football was on” Have been to hundreds of football grounds to and have never known anything like it. Also refused to serve the person in front of me a tap water
